Help WII not seeing usb drive

Ok my wii was softmoded some time ago I have posted a system check already .A while ago we had a power surge go thru our house and I lost the hard drive of games. I purchased a new drive (not in list) it's not being seen but there is more. I posted system check and was told my Cios is old I'm looking into updating that. I also found a usb stick I use to use and reformatted it wbfs and tried it it's not seeing it either. I get the same messages

Should I softmod my machine right from the begining again

Sorry for just don't need a brick

There would be no harm in softmodin it again from the begining. Would probably be less time consuming than trying to find the problem in the long run.

ok I just did a complete install of softmod and the port is still not seen is there any way to check if there was damage done due to power surge
I think my kids have used that usb port for a few games like tony hawk shred and wii sing it so not sure why the loaders would say it can't find the usb device . Any help would be great

You could try and set up your drive with the fat32 loading guide. link is in the spoiler below.

No. If your usb port 0 is blown out then you will have to replace the usb ports. There is no way that I know of to make the other port work for games.

Skinny1965, Just an observation If you have installed new USB loaders, Why have you Chosen WBFS format. Try FAT32 CFG & GX will read FAT32 So will Windows. Format Primary & active, Then load Apps away you go.
Another fault finding excercise: Try your Friend A N OTHER working drive in your Wii. Your drive in his wii.
