Generic question - when to update?

I have a softmodded 4.3U and pretty much everything works well. I can install channels, about 90% of my backups load from USB Loader GX, Wii Shop loads, etc.

But, how can I double check to make sure I am running the latest and greatest? For example, I wish 100% of my backups loaded.

Also, for example, I wish I had Priiloader installed so I can run WiiConnect24. But, is it worth the trouble of maybe messing up something while it works?

    Thanks

You could follow the softmod any wii guide to update your softmod. It will update all your cIOS to the latest revs with the recommended bases. It will also help you install bootmii and priiloader, which I beleive is a must for any Wii. There is a link in the spoiler below.

Thanks, yeah I am doing a new softmod as we speak. Bootmii wasn't even working for me, so glad I am redoing this.

Well I followed the guide and everything went great. I have Priiloader now.

But, strange thing happened. My Wii went from 4.3U to 4.1U, and now my Animal Crossing backup freezes after 2-3 minutes of gameplay. It never froze before. It's almost like I shouldn't have updated when I didn't need to.

Well HUGE knock on wood here but I turned off WiiConnect24 and Animal Crossing hasn't crashed.

But still weird how I went from 4.3U to 4.1U

It says in the guide that it will put your menu at 4.1. That is the recommended system menu to be on, since 4.2 and 4.3 were only to kill homebrew. Glad to see you got it going.
