safe to use Internet on a softmodded Wii?

I just connected my softmodded Wii to my LAN and successfully used it to update covers for my USB-stored WBFS files.

Now I am very tempted to use the internet connection to do all the other things the Wii can do online - weather, news, Mii Channel, etc.

BUT! - I want to be sure it ismsafe to go out into the "Nintendo wild" with a softmodded Wii! Will there be any complications? Can I download the shop apps? Can I enable the 24hour connected thingy?

Are there any dedicated threads for this topic? Thanks for any links to relevant threads and/or detailed advice.

    Thank you for your reply.

Must I keep the SD card with the original softmod files in the Wii to maintain the protection of priiloader? Or is it OK to remove it?

I was more interested in running everything off of the USB drive, so I formatted to FAT32 and put the USB_loaders, etc on the HDD and removed the SD card from the Wii to avoid conflicing loaders.

By doing this, have I removes the active status of the Priiloader?

I did activate the "block updates" option during my softmod. But when I connect to the net without the SD card in, I get the Wii option to isntall updates (which I refuse). Will having the SD card in place prevent this?

Also I remember something about an extra level of WiiShop, something like #2, that I didnt install. Is that neccesary either?

    Again, thanks for the help.

No, priiloader is installed to the wii no need to keep the sd card in. The wii will still ask for update but when u press yes u will get an error code. The only need to install the shop channel is if u wish to use it.
