Unhappy HELP! Mariokart not working after mod

    Hi!
    CAN anyone HELP!?
Second hand Wii bought for Christmas. (my first) It got updated to latest firmware. I then started at looking how discs could be backed up. Followed this;[Removed Link to Fail Guide] got Homebrew installed eventually but it was't smooth (did I cock something up on the way?) I also couldn't get the external hard drive connected properly.
Today I discover that MarioKart doesn't play (My son is VERY upset) I tried to do an update again hoping this might fix it but get ERROR 32024!
Sports and Wiifit work OK! Mariokart shows on the disc channel but when clicked on the screen goes black.
I am very new to this and could do with some advice what to try next.
    Thanks!

    Phil

Ooooo, yeah, I know how ya feel. I'm in the same boat, used the same guide too. Everything works except Mario Kart and Wii Sports. I'm getting the Error 001 when I use cIOS 249 and a black screen following the strap screen when using everything else. I'm going to get Mario Kart resurfaced and try ripping it again, and I'm also going to try the CFG USB Loader and see how well that works. I've tried WiiFlow and NeoGamma to no avail, so I'm not holding my breath for cfg.

I'll be doing the full "Softmod any Wii" guide as soon as I get a chance. And doing a full BootMii install and NAND backup in the process. I bet you haven't done either of those, have you? (considering that you used the Lifehacker guide - it doesn't mention either of those in there).

I would suggest that you do the same. Scour the Guides forum and learn all that you can learn, then when you feel that you know your Wii inside and out, do Mauifrog's guide.

Wish I had found this place when my Wii was still "like a virgin"....

    Hi! BabyDaddy,
Yeah, this place is a Godsend! I shouldn't have gone rushing in. Anyway, my problems are sorted now, thanks to the softmod guide here from Mauifrog. Top fella!
My advice to others like me wanting to rush ahead is STOP and take your time.

..... And as you go about doing what the other user suggested you could also avoid posting links to outside fail guides...

FYI my signature is full of useful links.

Did I come off like a jerk?? Read more here

Good to hear, Paddy, good to hear. Mario Kart is working now, correct? Off of the USB Loader?

I'm still not able to get it to play off of the Loader, only via the disc. Which just irritates the heck right outta me; I'm the kind of person who does things purely on principle! It just eats me up inside knowing that I have to use the disc to play the first game that I ever bought with my Wii! Grrrr....

Shift Lock's advice is also price-less! That guide that we followed, while it got us here, didn't really do any of us any favors. Although my friend who sported me the link has a flawlessly hacked Wii that runs everything without a hitch.... lucky bum!

YES, BabyDaddy, MarioKart is running of the USB hard drive. I followed the excellent guide on here, how to mod any wii as mine had been updated to 4.3. I think that is maybe why the other guide didn't work.I wasn't even able to play off the disc before but the ios36 had been lost!

Yep, IOS36 is just what Mario Kart likes to see.... ;-)
