Very strange SD/SDHC card possible problem?

I installed Bootmii as boot2 (the better way?) and everything seemingly went as it should. I booted the wii with the sd card inside and went into the bootmii menu, created a nand backup and during the process there were a few bad blocks (as normal).

My question is, the tutorials I checked for installing bootmii as boot2 all said that if my system menu firmware was below 4.0, sdhc cards would not work for bootmii/other wads and apps. I used a sandisk 4gb sdhc, and my system firmware in wii options says 3.2U, so now I am worried that I have done something wrong, or that the nand backup didnt work out like it should have.

If I plug the sd card into my laptop, what files will tell me whether the card worked good and how is it that my sdhc card worked with my 3.2U wii?

Please can anyone help me confirm whether I have a problem or not? This is keeping me from further attempting anything to do with wad's and apps

uh... I think you are good to go. however, some homebrew apps do not like sdhc cards, or anything about 2 GB... IMO if you successfully could backup the nand and install bootmii then it should be fine.

so when you have the card in there and boot up the wii, does bootmii start?

Yea bootmii starts only when I have the SD card plugged into the Wii (not sure whether thats how it should be). Only reason I'm worried is cuz I wanna begin doing some more stuff with the wii homebrew and updating all the stuff ive forgotten, and I don't wanna mess anything up. I made a nand backup, and when i plug the sd card into my laptop to view the files on it, there is a 528 Mb nand.bin and a 1kb keys.bin, please let me know if this is all I need to be assured a good backup for my wii? Thanks for the reply btw

yes it's normal for bootmi to start only when you have those files on the sd/hc card.. because that's exactly what it does.. move the folder in a safe place on your PC, or somewhere else. you hopefully should never need it.

as long as you follow a reputable guide (never listen to youtube), and don't lose electricity while you're installing system files to the Wii, you should be 99% safe.

If you aren't following mauifrog's guide here, then everyone here would recommend you should. Check out the recommended faqs/tuts board for the softmod guide (the one with almost 3,000,000 views), if you haven't already.

alright thanks for the help, I will take your advice and move the nand.bin file to a different more secure location, and I will continue using my sdhc card hoping it works for everything I need. If you don't mind, could you give me a few specific examples of major apps/wads that will not work on most sdhc's?

I only plan to play games with my wii, none of the other special stuff that can be done with homebrew, so I hope im ok using it.
