Trying to figure out how to play games off the disc channel- needing update

    Hello all,
Sorry in advance if my questions are stupid. I bought my wii used and it was already soft modded. I have been learning so much about softmodding off of this website, but I'm not sure what to do now. My wii is currently 4.2U. When I put in WiiSports Resort and Zumba Fitness in the cd drive it wants me to update. These are original games, not burned. So I went on Homebrew Browser and downloaded WUFE. This program says it extracts the update files that the game disc needs. So, there was like 30 ios's that it downloaded to my sd card. When I was comparing them to some I already have, it looked like some of the ios's were earlier versions than I already had. Also, since I did both games at once there were a few diff versions of the same ios. I was told that it is ok to install different versions of ios on top of eachother that my wii would automatically keep the updated one.

Before I installed the wads, I went into the Priiloader settings and made sure that updates were off. Then when I went to the game channel, it prompted me to update, and I had read in one of the threads here that since priiloader blocks the updates that I would be ok. So i clicked the yes to update, and then I saw the bar moving as it was updating and I got scared, so I unplugged the wii...I know stupid, right? So I turn the wii back on and Wii sports resort works perfectly. I guess I got lucky. Then I tried to get Zumba fitness to work and it still wouldn't. I didnt want to do the update again because I know that the unplugging the wii during update is asking for trouble.

So, next I installed all the wads that I downloaded through WUFE for both games at the same time, using wad manger, except for the system menu wads and the news, forecast and shopping, because I was scared because people say not to update the system menu. Also I already had the newest versions of the shopping, news, forecast, pic channel already. So anyways, everything installed fine, and then I restarted the wii, and everything was black. I was terrified!

Luckily I had made a back up with bootmii the day that I bought my used already soft modded wii. So I used bootmii to restore and I am right back where I was the day I bought the wii. Thank God!!! It worked, I had never tried using a restore on bootmii and I wasn't sure if it would work but it did!

    So now my questions....
    1. Because I have priiloader blocking updates.....if I say yes to an update on the game channel will I be ok? When I did this, I unplugged it in the middle of the update and when I turned it back on the WiiSports Resort played perfectly. So it actually fixed my prob, but in a very unsafe way.
    2. If I had installed all of the wads that WUFE downloaded for me would i have been ok? I did install all the ios wads. The only wads I didn't install were the system menu, shopping channel, news, forecast, and photo channel. Also, what about the fact that I was installing diff versions of the same ios at the same time? Is this what could have screwed me up?
    3. Does anyone here have any experience with WUFE?
    4. What is the simplest way to get a disc to run on disc channel and avoid updates?

Sorry I know I made several mistakes, but I was really trying the best that I could after reading so much on the subject.

Thanks for your help in advance. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Are you sure priiloader block disc updates is enabled?

    What is Wube?

Sorry it was WUFE...I just edited my post to reflect that. I downloaded it from homebrew browser and it says its specifically for games on disc that need updating....I have wifi and it downloads all the ios's needed for whatever game is in the cd drive on my wii. Also I'm sure i turned on the block system updates and block game disc updates and saved the settings, but I dont know too much about priiloader, so not sure if i made some other mistake.

Well Id go into priiloader and check...

Never used Wufe - If you want a ios for a game you can just get it from nusd or i have a ios as wad thread. These can simply be installed using a wad manager.

Post a syscheck so we can see whats going on with your system.

I did post it in the sys chk forum, should i post it here too? I have NUSD which i used to update my channels. It is so much more convenient to do it directly from my wii though, rather than running back and forth to my computer. The idea of WUFE is great. Wufe downloaded a lot like 30 ios's for each game. You used the singular for ios...should there only be one per game?

You mod looks out dated - Have a look at the mod any wii guide and update using that.

ok I was hoping to fix this prob without going through the whole mod process, because I was not the one who modded the wii in the first place.....since I bought it used. I am still pretty new at this. So I was worrying that it might affect the usb loaders so that I cant play backup games. If i do update using the mod any wii guide on here, will that allow me to play the games on disc channel that say they need updates currently?

    Ashes,

I was told that if I follow the current hack any wii guide that virtually all game up to this date will work on my wii. This is running them from the original discs.

Here is the link to where I was told this (read the second post): http://www.wiihacks.com/general-home...tml#post605789

It is for your own good to actually run the guide yourself. So often we have people come here who have no clue what was done to their wii. If you do it yourself you will know and you will learn. The guide is sound and as long as you can read and follow directions you will be fine. If you follow properly the guide you should not see the update screen ever again.

Make sure you update priiloader and block online and disc updates. It's best to just run through the guide fully as this will update your hbc , ios , cios (give you more), priiloader etc.
