Noob help 4.1 unable to update to 4.3u

to give a little backstory: i hacked my wii about a year ago with 4.1u adding homebrew, and neogamma channels to it

i loaned my wii to my friend to use and he picked up a original copy of just dance 2 which required an update to 4.3

he did the update without asking me and has left me at a rock and a hard place

currently the wii is back to factory, with all basic channels including mii etc. but my hacks are gone, the system is unable to update to 4.3 (32004) error when he attempted the update,

furthermore older original games are currently running (wii play mario galaxy etc.)

i am able to access the SD card still and it is able to view channels there,

im unsure on what to procceed to do at this point, and do not want to brick the system...

    1. system will not update via net (error code 32004)
    2. system will not udpate via disc (update fail no code)

system is a original built unit first gen if that information is helpful.

at this point i would perfer to set this system back to factory settings being able to do updates via nintendo directly. however i am even unsure if that is possible at this point.

thank you in advance to everyone

Is it on 4.3 already? Just remod it and get your hacks back.

currently 4.1u.. so from the sound of what your telling me i am able to still softmod the system.. id perfer to be able to get to 4.3 and play newer games..

as for factory settings, i mean like just being able to do the standard updates via nintendo directly, rather than using softmods as im probably giving this system to my sister...

OP updated with better info bro i do appreciate it...

Games arent reliant on the sm. Only the cios you use when usb loading. If by disc you can update the ios' manually.

Do you want to be soft modded? Yes or No? There is no need to update to 4.3 to play the newest games ....... You don't wan't to take that disc update..

That implies that you have priiloader installed and set to block the updates. It contradicts the statement about your friend updating your wii. Your statements do not add up. Are you sure your mod is gone? Perhaps the channels you think are missing have simply been moved and you didnt know it? If your wii had been updated then priiloader would not be blocking updates because it would have been removed when the new system menu was installed. Check to see if you have priiloader by holding in the reset button when you turn on the wii (keep it pressed until you get to priiloader or the system menu). Also, scroll across the channels and see if someone move them out of sight.

it is recommended that u dont update to 4.3U as if u update the system menu is the same as 4.1U but with anti piracy and block bannerbomb but lucky letterbomb got it now .. so if u want to play the newer games just update ur cios and that does all the work..

hmm... also can u check the system menu at the setting menu and see whether if have any corruption or not and also if there is no corruption check whether it is still in 4.1 or 4.3
