Got it to work with the stock enclosure. I tried using an esata enclosure, which appears to have been the problem. Either way, my question now is, what cluster size was used in the WD Acronis app to format my drive. Anything less than 32kb clusters will begin to corrupt data after 2.2TB. The last thing I want, is to copy 3TB worth of data, only to find that it is corrupted. Please advise. Thanks!

sorry not sure, dont recall seeing that notification during my format. either suggest seeing if theres any other info on it here or call Western Dig support and ask them. you will have to give them serial number but no biggie - my data is just under 2.2tb so cant confirm or disregard that note.

I did everything you said, but the wii won't recognize the drive. FAIL.

Not one time hav u said what system, what version of gx or what cios you installed. My kids have been using it for the past 3 weeks flawlessly picture proves it. We're u able to format hdd Exactly like described? Were u able to use another wd ex hdd and it work? Possibly a setting on your wii. Those were the steps I used for it to work perfectly. It's always easy for somebody to b**ch instead of researching other possibilities. I was told it couldn't be done, I tried, tried, researched and tried some more til I developed a solution. If ur having such a problem format it ntfs and keep sd card - done problem solved for you!

    Hey pipe,

Wanted to say thanks for the guide. Followed it exactly and my WD 3TB drive works flawlessly. Not having to change discs all the time is awesome!!

one thing i've noticed different between the 3tb & the 1tb, 2tb - the 3tb while it appears to shut off when the Wii is powered down i think the drive fan is still running. please let me know if this is the case for your unit.
