i've had 2 bad WD green drives and will never buy them again. the main reason of course why i have a main drive in my desktop and then an ex hdd for each one of them as a backup. which would explain why my wife complains about the 6 mybook drives on the shelf above the tv - HA.
i agree about the classic games, looking forward to the burgertime game when it comes out. hope my kids like it as much as i did....30 years ago
same thing for the wiiware games
I also have a 3T WD my book. I was following you instructions however I was never given the opportunity to check LBA. Only MBR. I checked the MBR finished the process and still no luck. Ncwbfstool still would not format the drive to wbfs. I also tried the wbfs manager. Any suggestions or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.
It did format to FAT32.
I tried it again, this time I formatted clicked the MBR and noticed the FAT32 (LBA) next to the partition size when it finished. What program did you use to then format it to wbfs?

I didn't format to wbfs (some of my older 1tb are wbfs) used with my 3.# drive but not used for this conversion. If u were able to format fat32 lba u will need to make sure u have ur config settings right if gx is looking for the files on ex hdd.
I have read your steps and tried them over and over again. I have the same 3T hdd as your image shot. I followed the steps and have even made sure that my USB gx is loading first from the Wii instead of forwarding. The Wii will not see the harddrive. Is there some other step I'm missing.
Once it did work for you what program did you use to then transfer all your backups from one hdd to the other?
Not sure if this is the first usb drive you are using or not. I use wii backup manager, you can get it here. im sure there are a bunch of other download locations that was the first that came up for me. you should be able to run gx loader even if there is no ex hdd hooked up (wanna make sure gx works fine and all directories are looking onto the sd card). then copy paste the entire sd card right onto your usb drive on your computer.CREATE A WBFS folder right on the root as well. (sucks that i cant put up a pic here but must be limited to certain levels of users. you should have an apps folder with gx loader and in there should be images, config, themes etc. then boot up the wii and in left corner of gx is SETTINGS (looks like a pair of gears), right arrows twice to custom paths. open it and change the locations in there from sd to usb. its going to make u browse to the folder on the usb drive. change at least the first 6 to the usb drive locations (the FULL PATH). once that is all set go back to gx main screen and click the icon to the left of settings.... INSTALL GAME put one of your original discs in. will take a little while depending on the size of the game
from there it should completely load it to the drive. once thats all set you may or not have a cover or discart. you can click right on the cover and download 2d,3d flat covers, discart custom etc. if your connected to wifi.
after it loads, plug it back into your computer and run wii backup manager. at the top select drive 1, then upper left on the drop down box select the location of the usb drive (e: /f: etc). if the game installed correctly it will automatically show all the games in the wbfs folder.
I DID NOT TRANSFER BACKUPS FROM ONE DRIVE TO ANOTHER, THAT IS PIRACY. i loaded all my disc's one at a time onto the drive via gx
hope that helps, let me know how it goes

Reason: if you have another drive u can make sure that all works before trying the 3tb just to prove all your setting are right
'Scuse me, but will this also work on 1TB drives? I've tried everything else and it seems to always get "hung" on a loading screen.

Sarcaster: there's a USB compatibility guide on this site, why don't you trouble yourself to you know --- look for it, rather than continue to thrash in the dark, ya know?

You're not really giving any detail on how to make this work. I've tried everything,. but nothing works. Please explain, because I can't get any of the software you mention to do any of the stuff you say it can do. Thanks!
can u see the drive on the main screen of acronis? Is it still in - out of the box ntfs? Still sux that I can't insert a pic and point to each step. If so click on it and format.
