    Us Missing something?

I have been trying to understand these softmod tutorials and find myself confused I have done everything it has said. I am trying to get usb / dvd-r game loading to work.... Gamma Backup Loader is saying DVD Read Err 1167 NO CIOS and I find myself stuck I have read that there is a wad pack of 19 CIOS but I have not been able to find nore do I know if its the solution to my problem.....

    I have Red Wii 4.3U - 2006

Homebrew Games work I have channel have MMM and Also have disabled console/drive updates Also have patched ios36/236 that was done in MMM..

Notice when I launch MMM it keeps saying IOS58 dunno......

every tutorial seems different so I been very careful not tryin to brick my wii. I have hacked XBOX360 so I know how firmware / nand hacks work just looking for some advice and point in the right direction.........

You need to install a cIOS I have a link in my signature called d2x installation guide, click on that and follow the tutorial and you should be set to go.

The guys below are right, you cannot use dvd-r as your dvd player cannot read these.

cant use dvd-r with red wii must use external HDD, if you followed guide properly you will be on system menu 4.1u. But to answer your ? your dvd player is not capable of reading backup dvd_ r, you must use external HDD or Cheap way Flash drive, USb HDD best option tho. Make sure you look at USB compatibility first before buying one ...gl. Games can't be added to usb loader from a back up game you created on a dvd'r no way for wii to read it. you must take original game and place into wii drive then using usb loader program, credit a backup to play through your loader...Or d/l a iso of a game, which this site doesnt support pirating games, so let us know what you want to do

2006 appears on all Wii consoles, to the best of my knowledge (imprinted/embossed in the plastic).

According to the type of drive I have I can play DVD-R's this is why this is all confusing 3 people all say different things..... Its not a case its a red wii and was manufactured in 2006
    • here is a 75% chance the chipset is GC2-D4 on a smaller drive board.
    • And there is also a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D2C2 (v2) and the drive has the new metal clip.
    According to wii drives......

Attempting d2x installation guide with WADS never did that before might be the missing step.... All I did was patch ios 36/236 allowed me to run homebrew and install wads.......

Red Wii's were not manufactured in 2006 -- All wii's say that...

If you have a RED wii then you drive WILL NOT be able to play backups via DISC so dont even continue reading up on it!! lol

USB loading if going to be your only option!
