Updating and Fixing my Softmodded Wii

    Hi,

I had my Wii with 4.2U softmodded by someone (not sure which guide he used) about a year ago... and it had the HBC and USBLoader GX on it... It was working great until i decided to update the USBLOader GX to the latest version and the HBC as well using their Update from their menu... That's when my Wii USBLoading stop working... I reverted to the old USBLoader and it didnt work.

The symptoms are , When i click on USB loader form the menu, it loads up the carousel like before.. but when i clicked on it, the screen turns black and it does not load anything... I have to shut it down to go back to the Wii menu. The latest version of the USB Loader GX i updated didnt work at all.. it tries to launch it but doesnt even get to the carousel to show my games, but rather restart to the Wii Menu...This is the reason i reverted back to the old copy my friend left on my SD card, when he first installed it...

Here am i now, trying to see with you experts what are my options...
Is there simple things I can check to fix , rather than completely virginize the Wii and reapply this Guide?

In other words, i'd like to simple fix what's broken , rather than go the long way and start from square one.

    Thanks for your help

You dont need to virginize it.

"Virginizing" wont help you. You should, however, re-do your softmod using the link in my signature. This will bring you up-to-date with latest and greatest. And I'd (personally) recommend Configurable USB loader as well. You can do it quick, or you can do it right, I'd recommend doing it right. -Blu

Yeah i was on that thread to ask if this guide needs to be reapplied over what i have already but it was moved here.
    So what are my options:
    1. Apply the "Softmod Any Wiii" Guide over the existing corrupt Softmod that my friend has done over a yr ago. Would the old softmod have any conflict with running the "Softmod any Wii" since i'm assuming some of the steps were already done.
    2. Try to isolate the problem and fix it... I think it has to be related to the Upgrading the HBC and the USBLoader GX... which i tried to do thinking it should upgrade without anyproblem... but it wasnt the case, i even returned it to the original wad i had but it still does not work.

I want to do it right this time... without bypassing any steps... but first i want to make sure my existing set up won't cause any problems by running the "Softmod Any Wii' Guide over again.

    Thanks

Try deleting the gx config file from the sd card and when you start it again it will make a new one. There may be a conflict some where! Also post a syscheck in a spoiler and we can see what your mate has done....

Ok sounds like a great idea although... I'm not sure how to run a "syscheck" .... not sure what that "spoiler" is referring to (the only spoiler i know is from a car :P)

I'll try to do some googling/search and do some reading from home and hopefully i can find out what you are looking for.

Not sure if the site is letting us do bb code at the moment so wrap these tags around the syscheck without the underscore

Here's the log... so where do I start?

I'm wondering, since i'm doing this exercise to learn a bit and upgrade my versions of the programs i have already... and to make backups or install preventive softwares ( which i read briefly ) that will take necessary steps to avoid updating the wii firmware and screw up the HBC ...etc

    Spoiler

Yeah, that syscheck is for sure out of date. Update using anywii guide. Use the homebrew channel already installed option. When you're done you should have more (newer) cioses and hbc should be running on ios58.

Oupps sorry, yeah wasnt sure because i saw from the SysCheck forum to post at the other thread... and since my original req came from narse... i thought of posting it here to let him know :P

So coming back to my problem... I can safely reapply a softmod ( in this case "Softmod Wany Wii" ) over what has been done already... and it will readjust and update everything i need to get back the loader , right?
I'll start with updating the HBC... like you suggested

    thanks
