Question If I update(via Nintendo)to SM 4.3,will I lose any functionality that I actually use?

Evening all, first of all, I have spent the last couple of days reading threads, guides, tutorials, FAQs and rules etc. I have already learnt a fair bit, and done some modding of my Wii. However I do have a question that may need a little thought to answer.

    My current situation is…
Australian launch Wii currently on 3.3E
Hardmod soldered WiiKey 1 on 1.99BETA
    HBC installed (latest version)
BootMii installed as Boot2 (Not IOS)

I’m interested in updating my Wii to the latest software in the most convenient manner possible (update from Nintendo). I have of course read the threads advising ‘Do NOT update from Nintendo’ and the thread advising how to update specific iOS via Wad manager and MMM etc. I know if I update to 4.3 I will lose multi region functionality but this is not a concern for me. Also, losing the ability to play discs that exploit the Trucha bug is not a big concern for me.

The things I’d like to achieve are listed below roughly in priority order…

    1. Update my Wii to the newest software in the simplest way possible (without going to the trouble of using MMM or Wad manager to install IOS’s) (again not concerned about losing multi region play)
    2. Be able to play current or new backups from DVD (not concerned about USB/HDD loading)
    3. Keep the homebrew channel
    4. Keep BootMii as Boot2

If you’re still reading, thanks for your patience!

So my question is, if I update from Nintendo to SM 4.3 will I…

    A. Still be able to play PAL (own region) DVD backups? (I assume yes)
    B. Will I still have the HBC? Or will I have to ‘letter bomb’/’indiana pwns’ it back in?
    C. Will BootMii still be there as Boot2 for emergencies? (I assume yes)

Any answers to my questions, thoughts, feedback or even general conversation would be appreciated!
    Cheers.

Might want to edit that post.
It appears to be a wall of text, which might not be your fault, but has come out that way reguardless.

Here are the quick answers to your questions:
    A) Yes, but you will probably need to resoftmod.
    B) Yes.
    C) Boot2 will be overwritten in the update, so you will need to use the hackmii install to reinstall bootmii.

If I were you however, I would do this: http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-gu...ard-brick.html This guide allows you to update your wii through Nintendo, without losing your softmod. Futhermore, this guide provides some very good brick protection.

Yeah I previewed it, and it changed to a wall of text, I formatted it back several times but it just keeps reverting, looks terrible :-( Sorry folks. Tried edit too, no good.
[edit] 6 edit attempts later, it finally looks like it should! Don't know why I was having so much trouble!

Cheers for your reply, I'll take a look, also forgot to mention, already made a NAND backup just in case.

Good point, I missed that in the post. I think it will stay on there....now I have to go look it up because I can't remember.

    edit:
New title id to circumvent its deletion by System Menu 4.3.
You are correct, as of 1.07 HBC should not be deleted by official update.

Incidently, for anyone reading along... I updated my Wii to 4.1E using the update on New Super Mario Bros Wii. Everything still works perfectly, still got my HBC, bootmii as boot2, and play back ups off DVD.Cheers for all the replies so far! ;-)

Yes, 4.1 was the last update that had any actual benefit for user functionality.
