Question Use old iPod as external hard drive for Wii. Possible?

I know it sounds ridiculous but, I just recently modded my Wii, and want to connect an external drive to it. I haven't found room in my budget to purchase an external hard drive for the Wii, but I do have an old iPod video lying around, and I was wondering if I were to format it clean as a blank hard drive, if it would be usable to connect it to the Wii, via usb?

Just a wild question, might save me some bucks if it is possible.

I don't think it would work. Let a Wii/iPod expert confirm this.

I already tried my primitive hand at it. Formatted it plain, used Wii backup manager to load one of my isos on to it, pluged it into the wii. The ipod recognized that it was being plugged in, but the usb connector channel think wouldn't recognized it, says it times out.

I don't know what I am doing however, don't see any guides on setting up an external hard drive so, I might need to have installed some other stuff to it first, I have no idea.

I'll clarify, I set it up using this guide: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html

and followed this guide regarding the drive: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...g-playing.html

The first one mentions some basic stuff regarding the hard drive, which is what I initially tried. The second guide goes into more detail it seems, so I will give that one a try as well, it just feels like I am missing something.

Don't 'bump' again. That's why there's an EDIT button.

Didn't meant to double post, when I typed that response, he had just replied.... now the message is erased. Not my fault lol.

I feel like I'm being hazed in some strange, internet way.

In my opinion, I think just get an actual 500GB-1TB. Or, you can just get a $14 8GB USB Drive. They work

Have you tried putting your iPod in 'disk mode' before trying to load games off of it?
