    It is handy software to have, easy to use and understand, and can run from CD or USB, Linux is so much gooder...

    yes everything freezes until i unplug it......... it installs on other cpu but afterwards you still can't use it

    esh, that doesn't sound to hip to me, try the gparted live cd and see if you can access it and do what needs to be done...

    It worked 4 a moment then as i was transferring files it got slower & i could hear it clicking. then chkdsk came up.
    i formatted it a few times w/ the cd & now it won't even boot

    sounds like your drive is bad or on the way out...

    What should the format steps be for my replacement hdd? what did i do wrong?

    Sometimes drives just go bad. The symptoms you spoke of have happened to me before as well but for drives in my computer. All you can do is pray you can back up the info before they die completely. In your case, just use the manufacturers utility to disable sleep mode on the new drive and format it to fat32 or whatever your choice of format is. Probably no need to update firmware unless it is absolutely necessary.

    i would also try removing the sata hdd inside caseing and transfer to pc, sometime a direct connection via pc will stop these issue's were as connecting via usb wont, you should be able to format from there no matter what... well unless its dead or on way out.

    Shouldn't it turn off.... the white light stays on?
