    how to determine which wii i have

    all i know that it is a pal one and i bought it some time ago.

    is there a way to determine which one it is (ie if it can play back up disks and be used as a dvd player etc)

    ok, it seems i have a rvl-001 from 2006.

    is this one of the good ones?

    Hi. seems you are after some of the things I was. I doubt it is made in 2006, thats only the copyright, but take a look at the thread I made and read the recap. That should give you what you need:

    ok, i stuck the serial (LAH14088053) into the wii drive thing and it says this ....

    There is a 100% chance the chipset is GC2-D2C2 (v2) and the drive has the new metal clip.

    from what i have read it appears i should be ablel to play burnt discs and it should install bootmii as boot2 (ie, its the good wii to have)

    can someone please confirm that this is correct?

    That is a correct assumption. As long as it has not been worked on and had anything changed prior to you getting it.

    if it had anything done to it prior to getting it i would be pretty peeved since i bought it new.

    the only thing that has been changed on it is the laser.
