Wii can't read the disks!?

I have a soft modded wii with 4.3

I have installed homebrew and have neogamma r8

I have been playing backup games all this time and today i tried to play the wii but it got some error on the neogamma and i don't even know what i did wrong! :confused:



This is what happens:

1) Launching game from DVD

2) Init DVD...

3) DVD Err(1220) Disk ID

After that i inserted a real game and tried playing that both on neogamma and the normal way, but neither way worked so basically i cant even play real games with the disk channel.

So i restored my NAND using bootmii
but still it wouldnt load!

Please can anybody help!

I assume that you had bootmii/boot2. Does everything else work on the wii, other than the fact that no discs will play? Can you post a syscheck too?

Are you positive that was the error code?

Yeah, i had boot2 and everything does work on the wii other than the disks and im 100% sure about the error code.

And i will post a syscheck later.

My guess would be that you finally killed your drive.

Hey Nintoman, Maybe a silly point but can you hear the drive actually spinning, When you power up, Does it accept and spin when you offer a disc into the console. If All else fails you could go to using HDD.

Can I ask what guide you used as Your sys check still shows you at 4.3. and you have a few stubs in places, different to where i would expect to see them. I'm no expert but I have modded many units, following maui's guide and the system menu always finishes with vers 4.1, 60,70 222,223, stubs? and no 224, just an observation, we are all still learning.

Hey Gramps, yeah i can hear the disk spinning but it says: unable to read disk with a big (?)

But to install the homebrew channel, i used a guide from another website because at that time i wasn't a member of WiiHacks

I only found out about it AFTER getting the HBC :(

I can't give you the link of the guide because its againt the rules but the name is:

If you can hear the disc spinning, It maybe that you have a version that is fitted with the GC2-D3-2 Drive chip. You can not mod these to play from backup discs. If you mod these units they will accept all the mods. you can install everything ( Neogamma 9 -46 ) my pref: but the unit just throws a blue screen with an error. I'm working on one at the moment. I have advised my pal to go with Hard drive & CFG loader. or you can use SD card but you can only get a couple of the smaller wbfs files on it, Have a look here

if you use this you can remod your unit. read it through a couple of times before you start, then you can download only the files you require, make sure to read it and get your region files. i'm in UK so I always downgrade to 4.1E
