3.2u is getting a little outdated- what to do??

I have been on 3.2u softmodded now for YEARS. I have a pretty original Wii, probably from within 3 months of the console release. I have backed up a lot of my games but am noticing that newer back ups like DKC Returns and Mario Galaxy 2 are only booting to a black screen.

I have researched upgrading some of the IOS files but am wondering if my best bet wouldn't be to just scrap it all and install the official upgrade to 4.3, then use my copy of Super Smash Bros the softmod again.

Some things I have read indicate that I would only be able to use usb backups if I do that; is that just the case with newer model systems? I do not want to ruin my ability to use my backups yet I'd like to play the newer games.

What do you fine folks recommend I do?

    Thank you so much.

That would be fail then, there is no need to update your system menu what so ever. Update your ios an cios and u will be good to go. The only benefit of an upgrade would be to get the sd card icon on your system menu so u could go for 4.1 but it isnt needed

I didn't mention that but getting the SD card is something I have wanted forever...

Let me look around and see if I can figure out about upgrading to 4.1 somehow in a tutorial.

Seems like when I researched it before, I got confused because I don't remember what I did to get my Wii like it is now; it has been so long since the softmod.

    Awesome guide

Ok- that is just the info I am looking for but I have a few things I need to clarify. It said if I hadn't followed your guides before, to start with step one. So do I start with this:

    Softmods with HOMEBREW CHANNEL installed

If you already have a softmod with HBC installed, you can update your softmod with this guide.

Note: 4.3 wiis can skip installation of ios58 and 61, and simply load Hackmii from the HBC.

    Backup and Format your sd-card
    Extract
    MMM-58-61.zip to sd:\ -mirror
    Load the HomeBrew Channel
Launch Multi-Mod Manager -MMM will load

    -Select Wad Manager -Press A
-Press 1, -press A -Install all wads
    -IOS58 and IOS61 will install
    -Press "any button"
    -Press 2- load "App Manager"
    -Select hackmii_installer_v0.8 -Press A
    Hackmii Installer Loads

Or do I follow the directions for bannerbomb? Is there any thing I need to uninstall from my wii before doing this? I have bootloader and some other stuff wadmanager and wondered if I should remove them first.

Another question, further down in the guide, you mention being able to load backup discs if I have installed darkcorp. Is this something I'm able to add following this guide or will I just have to use the disk loader?

Thanks for helping me through this

Just follow the guide you will be updated to 4.1 at part 2 I think it was.

Dont uninstall anythiong... Darkcorp is an advanced tool not recommended unless you really know what you're doing and what it does. But yes you can load backups directly from the disc channel with it.
