Question Originals work, USB games work, discs do not anymore

    UPDATE:
I got the wii lens cleaning kit in the mail, cleaned the lens, and now my original games work!
However, my burned backup discs still do not work

Here are the errors I get when I try to play a game from a burned disc. These game I've played many times before!:
first game, tried in Neogamma R9: Error (1208), Disc ID
second game, tried in Neogamma R9: Error (1208), Disc ID
third game, tried in Neogamma R7: Read Error 1269
third game, tried in Neogamma R7 again: no DVD(n)

ALSO, I have installed & set up USB loading from a FAT32 drive with this guide.
The backup game iso's WORK using the USB loader!

SO, there's gotta be something wrong with the DVD drive and/or the game discs...
is it possible that Nintendo secretly updated and ruined my drive? o.O

    I don't know what's going on...
    any suggestions? :/

if the originals started working after the cleaning then it could be your laser is weakening as it takes a little more to read burned media.. You might want to look into a laser replacement..

    Having same issue

bump. have had my 1st gen wii modded for years now and have stayed up to date.im using neogamma r9 beta 47 with ios 58(?) rev21. SAME EXACT ISSUE, WBFS works, originals work, channels/homebrew/wads work, backups do not, neither gamecube nor wii, many of these backups i have used for a very long time, even tried making new disks with the same media i have always used. I agree that it might be a lens issue, i havent tried the cleaner but it sounds like it didnt fix it for this guy, and my originals work fine. I certainly want to know the solution, so somebody HELP THIS GUY OUT! and let us know

Interesting, your definition of "up to date." Not saying that's the source of your problem, but latest is NeoGamma R9 Beta 49. And Rev 21 would be of cIOS 249, not IOS 58. Did you follow mauifrog's softmod guide? Rev 21 can be tricky and exhibit symptoms as you describe if you don't follow a well-laid out guide such as mauifrog's. Originals don't rely on it, only backups (which explains the symptoms you present).
