Games play then after certain amount of game play the screen goes black

Hi, Please help (and if this is not the correct thread to post in, sorry).
I soft modded my wii about a year ago to 4.1 following one of the fantastic guides on here.
I have USB GX loader and has been working a dream.
Earlier this year when Mario Galaxy 2 came out I started having problems.
Games still play, but after 5 or ten mins keep crashing. And by this I mean the screen goes black, no sound no nothing. So i have to turn off and start again. This originally happened on MG2 and it wouldn't let us play certain levels. Then when we had completed all the levels we could and got to the end, it would not then load the game at all. As we had completed it we decided to just delete it anyway.
Now, Wii Party plays and we can play so many rounds/mini games etc then it crashes.
    I have done this
Corrupt/out-of-date/wrong base cIOS install OR PimpMyWii Failure

Backup and Format your SD card

    Download MMM_Pack.rar
Extract directly to SD:\ (SD Root)

**Remove your USB HDD and all GameCube memory cards and controllers**

Load Multi-Mod Manager from HBC - Select Wad Manager
    -- Press A

Press 1 to install all wads - Press A

Verify an error free Install of All 4 wads - Press Home to Exit.

(MMM is set to load IOS249, if you don't have it then choose "Load another IOS" and select IOS36).

    Note:
This will install Hermes cIOS with the recommended base IOS.
IOS222 Is installed as base IOS38.
IOS223 Is installed as IOS IOS37 Merged with IOS38

This will install Waninkoko cIOS with the recommended base IOS.
    IOS249 Is installed as base 38 (cIOS38 Rev 17).
IOS250 Is installed as base 57 (cIOSx Rev 20).

and this hasn't fixed the problem.

Please help as I have spent the past 3 hrs searching the site for anything that could be wrong.
Do I need to upgrade to V4.2 or .3 or are there some IOS that are not correct.

Please let me know if there is anything else you need to know to try and help me.

I am really confused as to why all of a sudden I have started to get this stupid black screen!!!

As far as I am aware I haven't done any upgrades via the games we use. I rip my games straight onto my USB before even playing them.

    Please please please help.

    Thanks
    Sara x

This sounds more like your hdd is spinning down/going to sleep.

Seagate 320GB. could it be too full? It is partitioned for WBFS (220GB) and FAT32(100GB), but always has been.
