Successful Softmod from last year revisited

Hi, as a newbie I succsessfully softmodded my kids wii last year and all was running fine until two months back (they just told me). I have a USB HDD with USB Loader GX. I can't remember what version the wii was at the time it now shows 4.2e and it also has a wiikey 1 chip installed. I have priiloader to prevent disc updates

I used this excellent guide on the forum to pick up from where I left off (http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...y-4-2-wii.html)

So all is now running with USB Loader GX 2.0 but some games don't load

    My questions are:-

    1) Should all the cios wads that I loaded from the recent guide cover me or do I need to look at the latest Waninkoko and Hermes installs?

    2) The wii has internet access (but connect 24 is off) so is there an online way to make sure that I am always up to date with required cios/ios

    Any expert help greatly appreciated

    1) I don't know what cIOS that guide leaves you with so it's kind of hard to answer. Seeing as how you followed one of our guides I'm sure you are good. Everybody seems to set their cIOS up differently based on what they need or want. For example some people still have Wanin's rev 17 in at least one slot but I don't see a point in it so all of the slots I used for Wanin's are rev 21 but with different bases. Same as people are still using Hermes v4 while I only have v5.1. The choice is yours.

    2) Well you can make sure your IOS and system menu are up to date via online update but that defeats the purpose of softmodding. LOL.

Not really. There is PimpMyWii which is more likely to screw your system up than properly update for you so don't use it. DOP-Mii is good for updating your IOS but be careful with it and pay attention to what you are doing while using it because you can screw up your system. cIOS you just kind of choose to install as released.

Thanks for the quick response darkcide

All we want to do is play games from the HDD using usb loader gx. I should be thankful that nearly all of the games are working. I can Google information on specific games, I did this last year to find specific ios settings. I also found that loading some games to the HDD via wii/disc rather than WBFS Manager also worked

Below is a dop mii system report if you think I am missing something very obvious. Once again, thanks

You IOS are slightly old and you are missing IOS58 which is important to the most recent HBC and a lot of apps. If you want to to safely update without having to worry about doing it piece by piece you could update with Mauifrog's softmod any Wii guide starting after the chapter on installing the homebrew channel. We have a thread on here for problematic games too.
