I personally don't know how to tell, hardware is one thing I have not messed with. If you are planning on modding it, just do it. Once it is modded you can try a burned disc, it will work or it won't. I think usb loading is a far better choice anyhow, why even mess with discs?
That kind of looks like mine, did you try a backup disk that works? Try to load it on a wii that can read backups, if it doesn't work there then its a bad backup. Also, neogamma gives a certain error when the drive can't read backups, but you will have to do some research to find out the error code it gives since i don't remember on top of my head.
DVD Read Error:Bad burn/media.Dirty Lens use Wii Lens Cleaner.Trying to play a Dual Layer game with rev14- update to cIOS38rev17+.Some old wiis are known to have problems with dual layer games. If its a new wii then it has a d3-2 drive and you cant play disc backups.Only option is USB loading.
Sorry, i think that is the error i was talking about. Thats straight from http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tion-here.html Usb loading isn't that hard, all you need to do is format your HDD to fat32 and have the loader install the game.
My HDD is formatted to FAT32 using easus
well when you finish mauifrogs guide, there is a CFG usb loader channel and app on your SD card. You click on the channel icon, and launch it. With your HDD plugged into slot 0 the one nearest to the edge, put your game in and clikc the - button. It will then copy the game to your SD card, and it will show up on the CFG loader screen.
