Homebrew channel BLANK with Exter HDD inserted

Just wondering if theres anything im missing here, I have modded multiple machines with several diff update versions and no issues, till now... been poking around and just not finding the answer on this one. My HBC will remain blank with the good ol bubbles floating up the screen and will remain like that untill i unplug the external hdd , i know the drive works fine i have usbloadergx with forwarder installed and no issues. its a minor inconvienence but id love to be able to access more info located on the drive while in the HBC, for use with WiiMC etc...

My system Ver is 4.2 U

Do you by any chance have the SD card in the slot? If it's empty, so is the HBC.
Awesome sig picture does not work

I think he means that he has a fat32 partition on his hdd and wants to use that partition to store homebrew.
What version of hbc do you have?
Also, try to post a system check. Link in my sig.

No my sd is fine my hbc apps are all run off of it, it works fine, untill i connect an external drive (formatted fat32) in the TOP usb..Because wii media player can only read the drive from that slot, i have to open wii meda player first without drive connected then plug it in once the app is open in order to read the files..... when using usbloader gx from the main system menu the drive needs to be in the bottom slot , all is fine that way, but when the drive is inserted into the top slot while in the hbc all apps will dissapear. this is my prob HBC Ver 1.0.8

Try to put the apps on the the fat32 (just copy the apps folder from your sd to your hdd).
Then, leave the sd card out, and plug in (and optionally switch on) the hdd before booting up the wii.
