Question What if my wii gets bricked!?

Hello there I'm new too wii hacking and i was wondering what i could do to prevent/fix my wii if it ever got bricked, i have a newer wii(black 4.3U) i bought it a few days ago and already i have homebrew installed(smashstacks) I also have bootmii installed as a IOS? I have know idea what bootmii is but i heard it was important so i installed it and i also backed up my Nand.

so yea i just heard that bootmii as a ios is pretty much useless if my wii gets bricked is this true? and is there not any thing i can do if my wii suddenly bricks!?

    thx

Since you cannot do BootMii/boot2, the most wise course of action is making a backup of your NAND (which you have) and follow our guides. In cases like these, Priiloader is your best defense in brick prevention. If you do brick at some point, so long as you have a NAND backup and your keys, you could always have a NAND programmer (we have a few here) fix it for a small fee (compared to buying another Wii).

Nand programmer? With all of the research I've done on this site, this is the first time I have heard of this. If you don't mind me asking, is there an area in the site where more information about a Nand Programmer is posted? I've seen it mentioned in a few of the bricked issues threads, but not in a general FAQ or other like post. I'm always looking for new safety systems.

Nand programmer is not a utility you use, but a person who has all of the (expensive) tools and equiptment one would need to flash a nand. There are tutorials here for that, but unless you are capable of desoldering and resoldering 30 or more pins I suggest you leave it to the pros we have here. As nightstah said, ------Priloader------ is your best brick protection, just make sure you don't mess with system menu themes as this could wipe out your priiloader and then your only hope would be a nand programmer. Use common sense and follow good guides from this forum and you'll be good to go.

NAND reprogrammers on staff: Bad_Ad84 (UK), Krafter (USA), Emuhack (USA). Others here that are not staff: Eryke (I might've misspelled his name, it's been awhile since I seen him post --- from the Netherlands), Deadly_Foez (who seems to have moved back to gbatemp, USA).

Being your IP is a Florida comcast one, that gives you the better choices (in terms of # available within the USA).

30 Pins!? Piece of cake!...Okay, maybe not. I thought re-soldering an iPod touch battery was difficult, but thirty pins doesn't sound fun. Just to make sure I'm understanding you correctly - after this device is used, the consumer doesn't get to keep it to prevent future bricks? That's too bad.

Thank you for that information stmcmurray77. You're right - the best defense against a brick is good practices. If there's a sensitive procedure, I always consult the guides and look for positive feedback. I do have Priiloader installed and love bypassing disk updates with it. As for the system menu themes. Urrrgh, they're so tempting! I want to install the bloody beautiful darkwii theme so badly - I have the csm file, but I don't dare install it! I have difficulty accepting that, but I know better then to install it. The shadow of the bootmii as boot2 that could have been forever mocks me...

Thank you nightstah for the list of available NAND reprogrammers.

In fact, Krafter has a youtube video showing how to re fit a nand! Looks very difficult!
NOTE: It's not good practise to follow youtube video's for hacking Wii's.
Wii hacking guides on youtube are referred to as Failtube!
    Any way, heres the vid.

Interesting. That takes skills. I'd love to be able to do that.

Like others have said it takes alot of skill and expensive tools.
