wbfs - fat32 question kind of a play list

Hi,

I've just started getting around to converting a 500gb WD drive to Fat32,
i have a 1TB WD drive which is almost full and is wbfs formatted, and need to get some storage space, so was going to use the 500GB Fat32 drive just for games.

do i need a extra 1TB drive in the pc to convert the 1TB drive wbfs using wii backup manger , or will it just use the temp directory on my c:/???? while converting to .wbfs files, i know i wont be able to fit all the games from my Tb onto my 500GB

also is there anyway of creating a sort of play list, as if say i had a list of games i wanted to copy from one drive to another, i know in wbfs manager and wii back up manager you can select lots of games or just copy the whole lot, but want to create a play list if possible, have 2 wii's in the house, 1 for the kids and 1 for the "adults" :rolleyes:

any help or advice???

the 500gb has only 1 FAT32 partition, i'm ok with that, really wanted to know about "play list" if possible, and if i need extra space for wii back up manager to do the conversion from the 1TB in wbfs to 500GB FAT32

I mean turn the 1TB to FAT32 and you will save space. Games are actually a little smaller on FAT32 than WBFS.

I don't know anything about a playlist selection.

I think you are mistaken on that one Joostin as far as I know they are exactly the same size.


Not sure on the "playlist" thing but what I do is have a small ntfs partition that I keep the few games that I dont want my kids to play. The rest are on the fat 32 partition. You could easily accomplish this with the parental controls as well. I like my way because I do not have to go though all of the games to find to few that I want to play at the time.

Wii backup manager only moves one game at a time so space should not be an issue for you. Obviously you know that you cant squeeze 1 tb onto an 500gb hdd :p

I'm quite sure on this. I didn't say there was a huge difference.

If you had it all fat32 you could put 2 folders. One of them being 1wbfs and the other 2wbfs. Which ever one you wanted to show up you would just edit with wiiexplorer or from your computer so it would then just be wbfs.

No he is not mistaken. .wbfs files are slightly smaller than files on a small WBFS partition. The larger the WBFS partition the larger the files get. Example on a 2TB drive the games will be larger than on a 320GB drive when using WBFS. This is not the case with FAT32 and .wbfs files. Another advantage to using FAT32.

Wii Backup Manager can transfer more than one file a time.

Edit: To the OP, yes you can create different profiles using Cfg USB Loader so that only certain games are loaded. Handy for different people using the loader. You can do this using the configurator that comes with Cfg. SD:/usb-loader/configurator.exe. More info in the CFg install guide in my signature....look in the settings and config spoiler there is a link to a page that explains the configurator.

Op, how big is your c drive? If you can store all your games there I would do that and redo your drive to fat 32 or ntfs I havnt had a problem with ethier. With all that space you can use one drive as kids one as adults or do as others say and make to files one for each.

A lot of people have problems with NTFS.
