I tried CFG Loader and it worked, tried WiiFlow and it worked, and then USB Loader GX and it worked. WBFS only. No FAT32 partition or anything. I use my SD for all homebrew, so i don't mind using WBFS only with my drives. Haven't played super long or anything, but seems like all of them work just fine.

Just adjusted the "sleep timer" within the software to "never", then formatted fresh to NTFS (to get rid of the preloaded software on it). Then used WBFS Manager 3.0 to format to WBFS. Trnasferred a few games to it to test and all seemed to work ok. Then backed up my 500GB Passport to my new 1TB Passport. Took over 14 hours, but finally its done, and tested more games and still working fine.

I have mine split (Passport 750 3.0+2.0) with the bulk being a WBFS partition and the second being a 4GB fat32 partition. I mistakenly left the first partition NTFS. USB Loader GX Channel would load find in NTFS with IOS 222->38 Hermies v5.0, but when I converted it to WBFS it locked up when loading the IOS. In NTFS mode, one of my bowling games locked the system, reloading now. Will edit this post and let you know how it works.

EDIT - AMF Bowling - Pinbusters, works fine now under IOS 249. I will try to update to IOS 222-38 hermies 5.1 and see if that helps at all.

I did one of these for a friend of mine and he has no trouble.

Yeah, seems like the USB 2.0/3.0 are working. But I have only tried WBFS only partitioned. I have done a few so far and all are working just fine.

So you said you have a huge WBFS partition and a small FAT32 partition and the games are loading fine with what loader? Configurable USB Loader? What version number?

Gotta be the bullet proof WD Passports! It's all I buy and recomend since they haven't let me down yet! I hope more people do some testing with multiple partitions and or FAT32 only, and NTFS loading with these USB 3.0 drives....so we can verify them working with all setups. Cause before long, USB 3.0 is going to be all that's available. In stores at the moment, you can't really find a USB 2.0 only drive. Gotta find em online, or at a store that doesn't sell a lot of them.

Maybe the next drive I get, I'll partition it up a few different ways and test. But I'm old school and stick to WBFS, as my 8GB SD holds all my homebrew and emulator stuff. So I have no reason to use a different format as of yet. But I do know that more members here support FAT32 loading, but my drives are for games only....so WBFS is good enough for me!

Just use 1 big fat32 partition for games and config files etc

v4 is the most compatable for loaders not 5.1

There are these new inventions for Web browsers, they're called bookmarks. Try them out.

You just bought which drive? A Western Digital 2.0/3.0 drive? Or another brand 2.0/3.0?

Just recently (seeing as this thread is older) I did 2 Western Digital Passports but were formatted for Mac (user didn't know better). The USB 2.0 (1 port) or FireWire (2 ports) one that is in a nice hard metal like housing.

Used a partition manager and formatted to NTFS and then used WBFS Manager or WiiBackupManager to format to WBFS and all went well. WBFS Manager seems to format to WBFS better IMO, but the WiiBackUpManager can do the same and or adds a "wbfs" folder on the drive.

I've done other USB 2.0/3.0 drives and have had no issues either. I've only tried WBFS and FAT32 and they both loaded the games fine.

Hope the one you get works, should. I have changed drives many many times and ALL of them worked so far. Good luck!

Up in the right corner there is a "thread tools" tab with a drop down menu....just click subscribe to this thread if bookmarking is too difficult.
