Post Help with sdhc card backups

    Hi.
I bought my wii about month ago and softmodded it with indiana jones method. its system menu 4.3e.
Is there way to get sdhc card to work with wii. I been trying to load backups from sdhc i have sandisc 4gb sdhc and 8gb kingston sdhc. with neogamma it usually mounts it after some tries, but when you try to start game it gives connection lost to wbsf error. Sometimes it goes through that but gives error and need to boot wii. Backups works fine with my 2gb normal sd card. Problem is that most of backups wont fit on 2gb card. Is only way to get bigger backups to work to get usb hdd? or is there some workaround to get sdhc cards work. Guess new wiis wont read dvd-r backups.. right?

    Thanks

Is the card formatted to WBFS? I believe it needs to be.

I believe newer wii will not read disc from drive. Your best bet would be an external hard drive. Western digital have best compatibility in my opinion

Darkcide. I have three games on the wii menu and five on 8gb SD cards purchased from the Wii shop. Can these games be moved to the USB HDD or by a loader? I put the card in the pc and there is a private folder. Inside the private are two files loc.bal and loc. dat. Those on the Wii menu cannot be copied or moved. I guess they stay put.
    Thank you for any info.

You would have to use an emulated NAND or uLoader to put them on your HDD and I'm no expert on either. I have some old school TriiForce experience but that's it. I don't know why you can't move your games because I've never encountered the problem. I've encounter saves you can't move but there is a PriiLoader hack for that.

If you purchased them from the shop channel and you are on system menu 4.0 or above... they CAN be moved to your SD card without issues. However, this method of storing WiiWare/VC games is inefficient and a lazy attempt on N's part (due to the limitation's they imposed on the console in the very beginning).

You can however play your purchased games from a USB device formatted to FAT32 via emulated NAND as darkcide666 suggested. You can use a program called BlueDump to extract your titles into WAD form then follow the Mighty Channels (Or Triiforce or SNEEK) Guide to setup your emulated NAND.
    Damn I suck!!!!

Thank you Krank and thank you Dark Cide. I think I am a little confused. I can play the games from the SD. For some reason I lost a game in the softmod but was able to download again from nintendo as it was in my account. On the second download of that game I put it on SD.
When you say USB, are you referring to a flash drive or a HDD?
My HDD is formatted to fat32.
As far as the games on the menu, when I go into Wii data management, and click on game, if I try to move or copy it says I cannot do either.
My wii was 4.3 softmod to 4.1 via Mauifrog.

    update:
Got my sandisc 4g sdhc work.
updated my cios to rev 19, formated card to fat32 and put newest cfg usb loader to it and on config changed source as sdhc. then added backups with wii backup manager and it worked. This might help ppls who have problems with sdhc card.
Kingston card still doesnt work, but guess that card just wont work with wii as it doesnt even load homebrew apps from it.

Never liked Kingston SD cards. They have issues with the R4 DS cards also. I have had good results with SanDisk
