I have a console with 4.2E and I soft mode it with thread ShadowSonic2 (thank you). Everything works fine until yesterday when my soon (7 years old) just format wii console. He is very curios child!! :-) :-(. Now I can't access my backup games from external HDD. What I have to do? I see the thread is changed (ShadowSonic2) in the time. I made the soft mode 4-5 month ago.
What can I do to be able to access my backup games?
    Thank you.
Just resoftmod with the Softmod ANY Wii guide in my sig. Don't skip anything (except DarkCorp), even if you have it.

    Thank you for response.
I don't kow if I have DarkCorp instaled on my wii. When I soft mode my console just I do everything in the thread. Can I do the same soft mode (ShadowSonic2)? In your sig is other guide (mauifrog). I'm afraid to do soft mode with other guide, but if it has to be done, I will try.
    Thank you very much.

ShadowSonic's guide is quite good (it wouldn't be on WiiHacks otherwise ), but personally I feel that mauifrog's covers more. It won't hurt anything to follow a different guide. When you formated your Wii, you lost some softmods, which is why you can't play backups.

DarkCorp is one of the optional installs. It is near the bottom. I strongly suggest that you do not install DarkCorp, because it can cause a fair amount of problems.

    Wink Formatting a used wii.

I have a used wii with different Miiīs from the previous owner. They are password secured and they canīt remember the password. If I format this wii does that mean everthing disappears and it is a "virgin" again or does it just format the saved information with regards to loaded or previous booted games. Is formating good or bad and what does it format back to. If the menu is 4.1e does it return to that systemmenu from scratch. i.e no softmods remain on the wii so I have to mod again?

do not format the wii. Google will help you reset that password.

If your wii came with 4.3 you wont be able to install bootmii as boot2. You can check if you run the hackmii installer, it should tell if you if its possible to install as boot2 or IOS.
    BootMii.org

is this true wii that have already came with 4.3 wont install bootmii as boot 2

Yes.This is more then likely the case.
