    Noob softmod question.

I recently softmodded my 4.2u Wii using a YouTube tutorial. Just now finding this website and it's alot more informative. Can't get neogamma working, get error 1101. How would be a safe way to start over from scratch with these tutorials, or can I just reinstall everything on top of what I've already done thx.

Youtube is considered FAILTUBE here.... lol

We dont know what you loaded or did not load on your wii, as you did not use one of our guides... I would start by searching for the Error Index and search that error there... then take a look at our 4.2 guide and see what you missed!!!

ok this place is a treasure trove first off. i never should have went to youtube. ive found that my Wii has the NO-DVD chip in it so ill have to stick it out and buy and external. but i have a seagate pipelineHD drive outta a DVR thats not on the compatibility list so ill report back on that as soon as i try it. i think i might have all the stuff loaded to play backups. i used this tut YouTube - Mod Your Wii 4.2: The Easy Way (For Noobs) 1/3 along with his neogamma and usbloader vids. Its just all outdated i think. And i never made a backup (am i past the point of no return for that one?) so i think my next step will be to try the hard drive. If for some reason that (my old usbloader) dosent work for me.... from what ive read here, and tell me if im wrong, i can reinstall homebrew and all the mods with a guide from here. And it will just overwrite what ive done already. keep in mind everything is working (stock side anyway). or do i need to do some uninstalling of some sort first. i read a guide to get 4.2u's virginty back but the wiser ppl all said dont risk it.

I would just start from the begining of one of the guides like this one. You don't have to worry about uninstalling. The guide will get you up to date, and yeah will just overwrite whatever.

All loaders such as USB Loader, Wiiflow, Neogamma can be added or removed with Wad Manager with ease.

BTW: according to google neogamma error 1101 is fail to read disc/dvd. I don't know about your 4.2U but my 4.2U won't take DVDs, I had to buy a hard drive. Make sure you view the compatible hard drive list if you do plan on buying a hdd, and google "controller lag rev20" -- I got this from another site, wasn't sure on linking to other forums here so I didn't risk it.

HDD with controller lag issue with cIOSX Rev20+
    - Lacie Rikiki 500GB USB 3.0
    - Packard Bell Silver 640GB

HDD without controller lag issue with cIOSX Rev20+

(- Seagate FreeAgent Go 500GB) -> Not sure at all
