Via SunDriver or WODE. You can't with a normal softmodded Wii and USB loader program.

So the only way to load Gamecube backups is by disk?

It's not the only way but it is the normal way for someone with a softmodded Wii capable of playing burned discs that doesn't want to spend money on a WODE or SunDriver. It's the method I use.

It seems the OP is a little slow to realize he's speaking of the ever-elusive holy grail for the Wii (currently what you seek can't be done; it's been tried with very poor results).

Ok thanks for the info. Could you tell me the easiest way to check if my Wii will play burnt DVDs. I bought it pre-owned so I don't know how old it is.

Plug your Wii's serial number into the Wii Drive Chip Database and it should be able to narrow down what kind of drive you have in your Wii. If it's a black or red Wii it's not worth wasting your time because they all have one of the newer drives that won't play burned DVDs. If it's white you may have a chance if it's an older model.

The drive chip database says that I have a GC2-D2C drive chip. Will this one play DVDs?

If that's what it toldya based on your serial #, you're fine for playing GC cubes with that drive.
