    need advice for a beginner

If there is something lower than a newbie, that would be me. I have been reading for days and am so impressed with the help given and patience shown. Thank you.
With that said, I am coming off the Maui soft mod, 4.3 to 4.1 and need advice as to the next steps to be taken.
There is so much I read here that scares me but I did the mod correctly so am not hopeless.
I have a big concern about loading an ISO and have no idea how to do it yet they are required for each different application, is that correct?
In that I am doing this for the kids when they visit, would it be best to
1> load the Home Brew Browser
2>I would like to be able to play movies
3>I would like to be able to play my sons original x-box games and others as I progress
I guess there is no going back so if someone would be willing to take on the challenge, I would be very grateful.

An ISO image is a disc image of a game and not required by applications. You are probably getting an ISO confused with a DOL.

    1) I don't use The Homebrew Browser because I like to do everything manually. I did try it a long time ago though. If it's still the same all you had to do was download it, extract it, transfer it over to your apps folder on your SD/SDHC or USB, and launch it from the HBC.

    2) I don't watch movies on my Wii because it would be downgrading only being capable of 480i but WiiMC is quite popular. Seeing as how your Wii began life as a 4.3 you won't be able to play DVDs but digital files will still be supported.

    3) You'll never be be able to play xbox games on the Wii. If you want to see what's available for the Wii console emulation wise see the first part of my emulation guides in my sig.

Thanks Darkside. I'll begin tomorrow. Will load the browser first and then try the emulators.
So if I understand correctly, the emulators open the door to playing games downloaded from different systems??
Told you I would need help.
    thanks so much

    Downloaded? Seriously?

They'll help you play games for other systems...Hopefully for systems and games you own.

Obviously download is not something I should have said yet I was under the impression that games can be downloaded through home brew channel, and I have downloaded 2 Wii games from the Wii store. Is download not the correct terminology or is there something else I alluded to?

Which was why I asked about the original x-box 360 games my son had. I assumed those discs would be playable. You have since told me that is not the case. As my son grew up, like many families we have the original nintendo games, some Sega, some N64 and X-box.
I do have a lot to learn.
    Thanks for your help.

Emulators can be downloaded through The Homebrew browser but not the ROMs for them. The only exceptions being Wiituka will download games because almost everything for it including the system ROMs are public domain and BlueMSX-Wii because it will allow you to download a demo pack to start you off. WiiWare/VC is a different story.
