    Question Homebrew channel question

    I'm very sorry if this is in the wrong section.

    Just wondering, why cant we copy the channel to an sd card to give to other people.
    Like if someone under 4.3 installs it on his machine and then puts it on an sd card to give to some one with 4.3.

    I think it has to do with the ticket or something, I don't think you can run a channel from one wii on another. Very interesting question though. If someone doesn't post a solid answer I will have to experiment with channel swapping since I have a spare wii for a few days.

    I think the channel is actually installed to the wii's nand and plays from there. The icon you see in the memory is just that, a channel to play it from the nand. I believe when you copy it to the sd card, then play it, it copies back to the wii to play from the nand. I could be a little off on this, as I am still learning, but I think it's something along those lines.

    i mean something like:
    Wii 4.2(x) Homebrew channel -> sd card

    sd card Homebrew channel -> Wii 4.3(x)

    Yes, it copies to the nand to play.

    @gammax92:
    HBC is not SM specific, only the method of getting it on there.

    What is saved on the sd card makes no difference. There has to be a way to find the exploit to install hackmii to your wii. My sd card will work in any softmodded wii no matter what system menu if it is already exploited. I think the 4.3 update blocks that exploit to install hackmii with bannerbomb method. So the wii genius' had to find another exploit to install on 4.3, thus now you have to use one of the games in the guide.

    This explains it here on Wikipedia

    fine just asking.

    I'll just use the smash stack method for my Wii. im gonna use a disk from the library.

    EDIT: Bannerbomb on 4.3 just makes the Wii lock up with error #004. All system files are corrupt.

    Although it still works/runs fine. i think Nintendo is just trying to scare us.
