    Lightbulb confused about WBFS partition

    Hello,

I had an iso on my computer that I managed to put on a WBFS partition. In the process though I had to change my external HD from FAT to WBFS. The game obviously worked (I played it) but neither windows or linux can see the files on my external hard drive.

What I want to do is take the files from my external HD put them on my desktop and re-format the external HD to FAT and put the files back on it and play them with configurable USB loader so that I can use my external HD for other stuff as well.

I have seen some stuff about creating a .wbfs file from a WBFS partition that FAT understands and Wii can play.

I am running Linux Ubuntu 10.10. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
If nobody knows how to do this for Linux I can access a windows computer so that works too I guess.

    thank you in advance!

Ah, a fellow person using Ubuntu. I have the solution for your problem! You need to install wiithon (you can get it at their site, it is not available through synaptic or apt). You may need to run it as root to access the disc. To do so, you will need to enter
    Code:
    gksudo /usr/share/wiithon/wiithon.py
    into a terminal.
Awesome sig picture does not work

I installed the .deb package but I cannot open it. When I try to open it starts then just goes nowhere. I used your command for the terminal and it said there was a transitional error. What version of ubuntu do you use? do you know how to get around this?

    Thanks.

Well, I use Ubuntu 10.10 and it works for me. Did you take the stable version or the development one? I recommend the stable.

wbfs manager can extract the iso back to your computer. When you reformat your hdd to fat32 use wii backup manager to put the iso back on the drive.

WBFS Manager and Wii Game manager can only be used with Windows, not linux. Maybe it would work using WINE, but I never tried.

Yes I used the stable version, I am also running 10.10. Weird. Due to an unrelated problem I had to reinstall the OS today. Perhaps it will work now, stranger things have happened. Also I never even considered using wine. I should probably give it a go.

Actually there is a very good WBFS manager for linux which can be found here:
    wbfs-manager_0.1.11-1_i386.deb

Its a .deb file. I used it before and it works great but you cant pull the .wbfs off the WBFS partition, that is actually the reason I started this thread. To use it you need root access.

    sudo /opt/linux-wbfs-manager/wbfs_gtk
