Question Playing Wii games from an SD Card...

    Hi,

I've searched and am rather confused so was wondering if anyone can help?

    I have a Wii - Ver 3.4E
I already have the Homebrew Channel (I believe its the latest version) and have Gecko installed which I used to use for loading backed up games (DVD-Rs)

I have heard that it is possible to save an ISO image of a Wii game to an SDHC 8GB Card and have the Wii boot it and play it without the need for any CDs. Is this true and given that I'm on 3.4E - which guide, if there is one, should I follow to achieve this?

I already have the ISO image of the game I want to play on my Vista-based PC - the game is Donkey Knog Country Returns.

I have seen tutorials on USB Loaders, but with no mention of SD Loader so not sure how to proceed.

    Hope you can help.

    Thanks in advance,

    Max

NeoGamma can launch games from an SD card.

Why do you want to load your backups from the sd,I dont see the point? Running them from a hdd with a usb loader is the way. Wii ISO are 4.37GB if you use a usbloader & a hdd formatted in wbfs with wbfs manager, your ISO's wont be as large as they would be on disc,or off your sd card. You will only get a few on an sd card.

As I have homebrew channel and gecko installed, does this mean I am softmodded and can proceed with NeoGamma? or is there a suitable tutorial I can follow from this stage onwards for what I need to do? (play Donkey Kong Country Returns from an SDHC Card)?

I only really want to play one game, that's Donkey Kong Country Returns...I have the ISO already and I dont have a spare HDD. Just bought an 8GB SDHC as I read online that its possible. So now that I have the kit was wondering if theres a way to do this with what I have at the moment?

I sort of need a guide for what I need to do. I read everywhere about USB loading, but not so much about SD.....so am really confused.

    Many thanks.

As long as you have cIOS 249 you should be good. NeoGamma needs it to launch your game. NeoGamma can be used just like any other homebrew program (Dump it in your apps folder). I'm not 100% sure about the tutorial. I believe there may be one on here about NeoGamma's use.

    Hi there,

I have no idea how to get CIOS 249 - I have got NeoGamma installed but at the bottom it does not say CIOS 249, instead its something else - also the only option it was giving is to boot from is DVD, not SD or USB. (I saw on Youtube that you should be able to select sd/usb as well but it wouldnt let me alter from DVD)

Do you have to install a specific version of Neogamma and then install CIOS 249 and that updates neogamma?

Also, how will I go about formatting the SDHC card and getting my .ISO file onto it ready to be played and launched from Neogamma? If you can provide links to the downloads that would be helpful as Ive tried so many but they turn out to be something else. I tried the CIOS249 but when installing it would let me select other numbers CIOS36, 37, etc etc but not 249 even though its file name had 249 in it (very confusing!)

    Thanks again for your help.
