Okay. So, theoretically, if I wanted to reinstall cIOS 223 v5 (for example), I could get the cIOS as a WAD and install it through WAD Manager - effectively overwriting the previous installation? Something that MMM won't let me do?

This is all hypothetical, by the way - I'm just trying to understand the nature of the file management and procedures that go with working on a Wii. It's a far cry from "hacking" a Windows PC, for one thing! :P

Yes, cIOS 223 v5 can be installed with wad manager, but only install that for use with uLoader, install cIOS 223 v4 for use with the other usb loaders. As for MMM, I don't use it for installing a cIOS so I cannot comment on that, I use a cIOS installer for installing a cIOS. You should do more reading about the things you are doing. Installing or removing a cIOS is fine, but try removing the wrong IOS and you can brick your Wii. A good rule to follow is, NEVER remove - all ways install.

Thanks for the warning. The last thing I'd want to do is spend an entire weekend recovering my Wii from a brick.

To be honest, the main reason I'm asking all these questions is because of an unfortunate side-effect of following the aforementioned Shop Channel v20 guide. I know this isn't the place to discuss this, but I haven't gotten a reply on the original thread for it. The guide got the Shop channel to work fine, but had the unfortunate side-effect of breaking my Disc Channel. Prior to following it, the RB3 disc worked fine, as did the keyboard. But after the update, the Disc Channel kept giving me the "An Error has occurred. Press the Eject Button and remove the disc, then turn the Wii console off and refer to the Wii Operations Manual for help troubleshooting." error. A few backup discs of slightly older games work fine (i.e., Scooby Doo) but RB3 and Goldeneye throw me the same error. Thankfully, though, I was able to back them up to the HDD through USB Loader GX after the fact... but that became another exercise in exasperation as I tried to get the RB3 keyboards to be recognized and synced in the game.

I'm guessing something in the Shop Channel update broke some sort of "region free" or "update free" hack working the Disc Channel? However, I checked my settings for Priiloader and everything seems set up as it should be - region free discs, wiiware and VCs, blocking of disc channel and online updates, etc.

I'm at a loss. Which is why I was considering reinstalling all the cIOS' and IOS that the GH:WOR guide prompted me to do, in an effort to restore the Disc Channel functionality. And then to try to redo the Shop Channel guide to confirm that some step in that process actually DID break the Disc Channel.
