    Why not update then mod?

i have two wiis to softmod. One 4.3 and the other is a 3.4. I just just modded a 4.3 system using he 4.3 how to guide. Now on the 3.4 system is it better to upgrade to 4.3 then do the same 4.3 softmod or is it better to use the 3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii guide. thanks

Never update through Nintendo. It is much better if you softmod your 3.4 Wii as it is. Use Softmod ANY Wii to do so. Part of the guide is updating to 4.1, which is the last update to include features/bugfixes. 4.2+ just kill homebrew.

well, the softmod any wii guide was updated more recently
also, the softmod any wii guide will install some ios's that have the revision set higher (so they won't be updated)

just go with the softmod any wii guide
See the Thanks button over there?

Either one will get the job done. I think mauifrogs is newer though. I like mauifrogs.

Mauifrog authors both and upon review I believe they contain the same IOS and revisions. Why he includes an explicit list with one and not the other is anyone's guess, lol. We tend to discourage members away from 4.3, as it offers no benefit whatsoever to the user and is more difficult to softmod (only four retail/original discs will work for softmodding 4.3).

Dogeggs did the 3.1-4.1 guide, at least that is the one I assumed OP was referring to.

the reason why I asked what the difference was is, the "3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii" guide has video clips and I have used it before, and the "Softmod Any Wii guide" doesnt? The video clips makes it alot easer to understand however if there is some benefits to useing the Softmod Any Wii guide ill go with that one.

mauifrogs softmod any wii guide is great. It does a lot of extra brick protection and will have you completly up to date on all of your ios/cios.
