Question [Solved] Update my softmodded wii

    Greetings,

Thanks in advance for your invested time in wanting to help me. I've been out of modding for quite a while, and that is why I am a bit hesitant on updating my wii. And since the brains are present at this forum...

I've had a look at different threads, have seen various problems alike, but I can never compare myself to their situation. And since I lack the needed experience, I'll have need of more step-by-step assistance to get there.

So I've been playing back-ups and burned DVDs for a good year now and everything has gone just smoothly. Now my girlfriend received the game "WII disney sing it family hits". The game itself requires an update of the wii, but that of course rang a bell since I know that could brick the wii. I've read somewhere I could bypass this problem by backing-up the game, but I would prefer another solution since for this game I'm in need of the two USBs for the microphones thus making me unable to use a USB to load the back-up. I could also use a USB splitter, but I'm sure there are other solutions.

At first sight I see I have these configurations:

    (White) Wii version 4.2E
    HBC 1.0.6 IOS61 v.21.29
    USB Loader GX v.1.0

I don't know what IOS I have modified. I do know that I followed the guide on this forum about a year ago to softmod my wii http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tem-menus.html. I'm pretty sure this'll have been updated by now.

So my question, how do I update my wii and possibly my hacks to the newest version, and I am quite sure you'll be needing more information about my system specs, where do I find that information?

Thanks in advance, and I appreciate the offered help!

    Yours sincerely,

    OMH

It sounds to me like you would merely want to bypass the disc update. You can accomplish this by installing priiloader and setting it to ignore the disc update. Check out this thread where it is explained in dripping, gory detail:

Can't remember what it's called but there is a patch so you can use both HDD and mic on the different ports. I installed it a couple of weeks ago on my mates wii who's kids are all ways on the sing games and it works great.

    Thumbs up Thanks

Great, my girlfriend is now playing the game. I followed the guide and updated everything, as well as installed priiloader. Thank for the information, and offered help, as always!

I will have a look for that. Seems that it could prove quite useful.

For other people who are in search for help:

Followed the afore mentioned guide: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-softmod.html. That way I was able to update my hacks. And by installing priiloader (I had to simultaneously press B & + in order to get priiloader to install.) My problem was fixed, because it bypasses the disc update check, and others if you want.

Yet again, thanks all for your help and support. This forum really makes a rather difficult task a piece of cake.

    Cheers.
