Wii Drive Chip Database
start here if you can read a disc i can help you with the disc burning
i am totally new to this forum, and still totally new to my set of Wii.
I got my Wii as a gift last December and recently, I tried to play back-up discs, but my wii can't read it.
I understand that in order to play back-up discs, my wii has to be modded. I also know that softmod allows you to play games through an external harddisk. However, my question is that, how do I play games using discs(instead of HDD, as it's much easier)? I also understand that there is this new drive or something that prevents the reading of backup discs.
My serial number starts with LSH, and I cannot find any information on the Wii Drive Chip Database web.
Are you putting the full serial number in the database as LSH will not bring a result up
try this one Nintendo-Scene Wii Serial Tracker
Also HDD is quicker and easier than having to constantly burn wii disc. I was the same as you when I first modded. As soon as I tried HDD I never went back. Plus if your wii has the newer chipset usb will be the only way....
yea i think the site is down same problem
well to burn a disk you need to have an iso of the disc this can be done through your pc using clean rip can get it from wiibrew.org after you have the file in iso format you can burn to a dvd-r using imgburn burn slowly
You have to get a moddable drive, we sell new ones for $70
You can then add a modchip or softmod

the hdd softmod was easier than I thought, although seems daunting at first because it's a lot of new stuff to learn. But I managed to get it done succssfully first time following the 4.3 guide (you'll have to check what system menu you have) and spending hours ensuring no mistakes done. This 3 part video helped out, he uses the steps from the guide except he skips a couple important ones like the nand backup and priiloader install YouTube - WII 4.3 SOFTMOD GUIDE PART #1 WITH SOFT MOD FILES This video shows the 2 missing parts YouTube - HMN - Install Homebrew Channel on Wii 4.3 (Easier & Updated) but I only used that method to see the steps taken, I strongly advise sticking to the wiihacks 4.3 guide as it works fine.
This helped set up the hard drive following the "formatting" steps http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...g-playing.html the 4.3 guide install files worked fine for the entire drive set to Fat32. A nice suprising feature was seeing automatic downloads for the backup covers and the gui is very nice, no messing with discs everywhere. Plus the WD my passport essential red drive matched nicely with the red wii
