    How do I play regular backed up dvd movies on my wii?

    I'm not sure how to do this. My wii is an older one and I am able to play backup
    game discs, or at least the ones I tried via neo gamma, and had no problem with that.
    Of course I noticed that the discs I used at first were dvd+r and they didnt work, then I got some dvd-r and they worked fine. I tried to play some backup dvds I had with what I believe was wiimc and it said invalid disc. As I did state earlier in this post that I've had success with running backup games so I know my wii can play burned media. I might have answered myself as I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with the dvd+r and dvd-r thing, though I'm not sure. I know theres a program to install dvdx, but I dont know if I need that or not, and somewhere I read that wiimc should be able to play burned media. It shows up as data dvd under my sd card icon and harddrive icon on wiimc and I can even launch it from the wiimc dvd menu icon, but it says invalid. I'm thinking it had something to do with the dvd-r dvd+r thing so I just thought I'd ask you pros. Shouldn't be nothing to much for ya. Thanks a bunch guys. You been great.

    You just need to right guide to follow. I'm guessing that the reason you didn't have any luck was because you didn't have DVDx or IOS58 (depending on what version you had). Look here.

    Cool dude. According to my system check

    Spoiler

    I see IOS58 on there. Do I need the IOS58 or should I get DVDX. Not sure what to do next.

    No need for DVDx anymore. Just download the version of WiiMC in the guide and do as it says.

    And just so you know, all questions should be asked in the guide you are following. It's just easier that way.

    I dont get what I'm missing on the guide. Theres not much except installing it to the right directory which I did
    and it loads fine, but for some reason it still tells me invalid disc. I tried on a few different discs and no luck.
    My system check does say I have IOS58 so maybe I'm overlooking something. I know some wiis cant read dvd+r
    media or cant read it that good. I just really wanted to try this out. Thats all. I actually use my original xbox console and
    XBMC for these needs. If I can get this going then that would be great. Cant figure out the dvd thing. I'm thinking its gotta
    be the media, cause I followed the guide and already have IOS58 I believe due to my system check saying I do. If you have any other suggestions
    let me know.

    Could have just been that certain media, cause it worked with another. Thanks for the response.
