    Lightbulb Wii Channel system update

Hi, please don’t shoot. I’m new and trying to fix my sons Wii so this is my problem

When a disc is loaded, the game does not start… all that shows on the disc channel is the words “Wii System Update”
I’m scared to do this as I have read that this should not be done.

The console ver is a 4.1E. I bought the console on ebay were it came as mod chip. I have no details on the mods.
I did load the homebrew channel for my son to play downloaded game

    What should I do?

While I understand it's for your son, I can not help you. WiiHacks does not support piracy, and you should have known that if you had read the Forum Rules.

It's a good thing you asked. You would have lost homebrew, as well as gone through a dangerous update. It is unlikely that your Wii would brick, but it's best to avoid unecessary risks. If you haven't done so already, hold down POWER for about 4 seconds, and the Wii should do a hard shutdown. You need to install Priiloader to block updates. I suggest following mauifrog's Softmod ANY Wii guide. That will update your IOS's (what games use to run), block updates, and give you a ton of brick prevention. If I remember correctly, it takes about a half hour to complete (I'm not sure). It is very safe, and it will ensure that you have everthing you need for almost all homebrew.

Edit: By downloaded games, did you mean copies of retail games or homebrew games?

The game disk you have put in is asking to to update it is advisable that you never do this especially if you what to keep your homebrew channel

OK son all you need to do is

First find out what system firmware you have

If 3.1 to 4.1 then go to here http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html

if 4.2 then you need http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tem-menus.html

    if 4.3 you need http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...mod-guide.html

Once you have done that you should have a channel called neogamma and you can load the games through this and it will block out updates

Remember to put brick protection on the wii as well

It's not a big deal, was just a joke.

Do wait with such things before he has answered Joostin's question, though.
