    It sounds like your dvd drive is wearing out or it does not like your media much. What media are you using? They say verbatim dvd r- is the best, burned @ 1-4x with imgburn. You can also try cleaning the leans, and laying the wii flat on its side with the drive on top and power button on the bottom.

    I've managed to verify what chip was on my Wii. I was Wiikey indeed.
    I updated it and it looks like my wii is working just fine now.
