You can still install homebrew.
Check out the softmod any wii guide link in my signature
I have an old Wii which runs firmware v3.1E.
It has a WiiKey modchip installed - not sure which version, probabaly one of the first versions.
Since it is soldered, I can't just unplug it.
Will I be able to install homebrew on my Wii?
Do I need to do any upgrade at all?
Appreciate your educated response.
Thank you us3rname for this quick response!
Being new to the homebrew scene - forgive me for my ignorance - I'm still missing something here with the process:
Eventually will I end up with an upgraded firmware version? if yes, won't I have any collision issue with the old WiiKey Modchip?
I think modchips work up through 4.2. The recommended version is 4.1
I suggest you search around to see what you'll need to do to make yours work
There is also this guide:
Seems a bit different then your guide and using different files.
What are the differences then? will they bring me to the same result?
they'll both softmod your wii.
but just go with the softmod any wii guide in my signature
it was edited more recently anyway
OK man, thanks again!
