To undo soft mod or not?

My soft modded Wii is unable to read discs. I am planning to trade it in to gamestop, should I undo the soft mod or trade it in as is? Any advice?

    Thank You in advance.

I have a hard drive to play games, but any of the new games that I buy can not be installed on the hard drive. So it is either get it fixed or trade it in.

I think you might be missing my point. I have a hard drive and can play all of the games that are on the hard drive, the problem lies with adding new games to the hard drive.

The only way I know how to, is to rip them through the loader on the WII. I heard that there is a special disc drive to copy the games to the computer and then install the games on the hard drive. Is there another way that I do not know about?

The WII itself won't read the disc. The WII says disc read error, unable to read discs. I have no problems playing the games that I have copied to the hard drive already. I can not put a disc into the WII and play a game.
