I've been reading the hell out of these boards for the past 3 days before I undergo this to my Wii, and I haven't seen things answering questions like does it wipe the factory stuff, how things play off ORIGINAL discs not backups because everything only talks about playing backups. I've also noticed that the people on this forum are not near as friendly as EVERY other forum I am on.

The softmod guides don't remove "factory stuff" and the guides don't say something about "only playing updates." Maybe you meant backups? Originals can be played via disc channel and will spin @ 6X; backups via a backup loader @ 3X. If you had looked in your Introduction response, and selected Ultimate Wiihacks Index there's a thread "all about Priiloader."

I fail to see how you being given the information and either not looking or understanding it somehow translates into "unfriendly" users' faults on this site. We do help and the links you get in the Introduction thread are excellent --- but we don't "spoon feed."

Yes I meant backups, I edited.

Thank you, that helps. In reading forums I have seen several people getting grumpy at people whereas I don't see that on other forums. I have read into Priiloader but I guess I missed the part stating that all games can be played. Is there a list of what games need to be manually updated to play *from the real disc*? Or is that the list that includes Super Mario and guitar hero ect?

If you follow the softmod guides on our site, you will be able to play almost any game without issue. NEVER, ever accept an "official" update --- whether disc-based or online. There are a few titles that require extra work. You may find Krank's "Problematic Games" thread of interest on that. Backups rely on the cIOS, not IOS. What I'm getting at is you'll be fine if you follow the instructions.

As for the atmosphere, please keep in mind this site participation here ranges in the THOUSANDS --- an ungodly number, especially considering vbulletin really was never designed to support that great a number. There are friendly folks, standoffish folks, mods, etc --- we are all users, but some of us are tasked with additional responsibilities like "policing the site" so at times...

Alright thanks, I'll check out that thread. I just have to get my hands on a copy of a game that initiates the soft mod lol. Just making sure that I won't lose all the wiiware and what not that's on it, now I feel comfortable doing it. Thank you.

If you have previously purchased it, you could download it again (on the same Wii of course) if that makes you feel more at ease. You'll need an original/retail to softmod 4.3 (only four titles work). You could always borrow or rent one, if need be.

Yeah, it does. Thanks I recently got Paper Mario 64 for my wife and she'd kill me if I lost that for "another one of my experiments" lol. I am trying to see if my friends have it, or I think my brother in law may be getting indiana jones on gamefly
