Saves Games only Load periodically

Hi all,
I hate to start a new thread on this, but I just spent the last hour trying to find the answer with no luck. So I have a scrubbed NTSC version of Super Mario Bros playing through the UBC gx loader. It works great and doesnt cut out, but the saved game only sometimes loads. The first time I played it, I got to the first boss and was able to save it. The second time I went to play, the saved progress was gone. The third time, it was back... Now it is gone again.. I am very confused.. There is a saved game for it on the wii, but it doesnt seem to load it or something.. The settings I have right now are:
GameLoad-> Vid.Mode "AutoPatch", VIDTV "ON", Error 002 fix "Yes", Alt.Dol."Default"

Any suggestions or direction on where to find the solution??

While the symptoms you mention aren't typically what the issues with this game present as, have you followed the guide on this game?

This is probably not the answer you are looking for, but the copy I have was already scrubbed, and because I only have macs, the scrubber programs dont run on my computer.. The game works for as long as I play it without asking for a disk. I read through the guide, and it looks to me (without actually doing it) that it is strictly a guide for how to scrub the program, which, as far as I can tell, isn't my issue. Please correct me if I'm wrong...
