Exclamation WBFS Manager Wii Games and Movies on External drive?

    Hello,

I'm not really new to this whole process but I am new to this site. I've been trying to search for my answer but couldnt really find it. Here is my question:

I already know how to successfully put wii games onto my external hard drive via WBFS. I also know you can also put movies on it .avi. I was reading on here and I heard I need to partition the external hard drive. Because I know once you format the hard drive via WBFS you can no longer have windows access it.

Now how do I partition part of my hard drive so that I can transfer those movies? Can I pick how much to partition for example if I want 80 percent for games for 60 percent? Lastly would I need to put a program on the hard drive I was reading on here and I was told to use MplayerCE.

Any help would be very welcomed thank you!!

    80 and 60 percent?
In principle thats how its working.
Stick to the USB loading guide to partition your drive properly and set up a fat partition next to your wbfs game partition.
But as you likely won't be able to keep all games on your drive when partitioning you can also decide to have your complete drive in fat32 format, see the guide linked below.

I like WiiMC more than Mplayer

    Get WiiMC

Maybe stop by in the Introduction section as well to say Hello.

Good luck for whichever you decide, further questions would go in one of the guides.

    Usb loading - FAT32

If you formatted the whole drive as wbfs, you will lose all of your data if you repartition. If there's nothing on there that you can't replace (which there shouldn't be because you only us it for games that you already purchased), just repartiton it to the sizes that you want. There is a guide on here for that, if you need help. You could also just format the entire drive to fat32 and not have to decide how much space you want to save for games. There is also a guide for that too. You can use that cool little search box at the top or click on the "list of guides by author" in my signature.

yes, you can use mplayer ce (or wiimc) to play the movies
if all of your hard drive is wbfs right now, you'll have to format it, then partition it
I think there's a guide on here on how to use easeus partition magic

if you haven't already, stop by and post an introduction in the introduction forum as all new members must post an intro

edit: I guess vinatec and skellinator beat me

okay so I followed the steps. I'm using windows xp. I went to my computer right click went to manage. Then clicked on computer management. Did everything needed to do like it said. Now when I open up the WBFS indeed it does show now I only have 200 GB of room. So I did it right. But I still cant access the other part of the hard drive. When I click on the drive it says I need reformat it. When I go to the properties of it it shows the file system is RAW not NTFS. Whats going on?

The 200 gb partition is probably the fat32 section. The other section should not have been formatted at all, that's whhy windows is asking you to format it. You will use wbfs manager to format this section. Windows will always tell you it needs to be formatted because it does not recognized the wbfs format. btw.....make sure you made the FIRST partition the wbfs one, or you will be back asking why it won't work.

okay I did make it primary and when I open up the WBFS and format it it does format and I can put games on it and it does show I only have 200 gb not 250. Because I left the 50 gb out on the partition. But still I cant access the other 50 gbs

When I click on the drive it says I need reformat it.
Try listening to your computer, format it to fat32.
