Wink bootmii, and wii system update options

    Hello All,

This is my first post, so please feel free to point me in another direction if I'm asking questions that have already been asked, or if I need to post these questions in a more suitable place.

Last Xmas, a visiting relative softmodded my now 3-year old Wii. It has been working great, and I use my Mac to find many iso's that I run off of a portable LaCie 250G USB drive which I leave attached to the console. While on the "USB Loader home screen" I clicked a button and noticed that there was an available update for both the Loader and the Homebrew channel. I selected both updates. On one of the options, I installed my BootMii as the IOS file? instead of the boot2 option. My questions are:

    1) Whenever I turn on my Wii, I go to the BootMii screen, but my Wii remote is unresponsive. When I press the reset button on the console, my Wii goes back to the standard Wii home screen...how can I set up my Wii so that I bypass the bootmii and go straight to the home screen?

    2) I saw an option on the homebrew channel that I can install a safe Wii system update. Is this okay to try? (I want this option so that I cannot update the Wii Shop Channel which needs a system update, I want to purchase and download extra songs for the Beatles Rock Band game that I purchased last year).

    Thanks for your help!

your first post should be in the introductions forum, head on over there when you get a chance and post an intro to get some links in case you need them
    1. wiihacks DOESN'T support piracy
    2. If your wii boots automatically to bootmii, then you probably have it installed as boot2
    3. either rename the bootmii folder to something else, or back it up onto your computer then you can delete it off your sd card
    4. there's no need to update your system menu version past 4.1
See the Thanks button over there?

Thanks for your response. I've just posted in the intro forum.

Can I ask for a few clarifications? I think I chose the Bootmii install option as the "IOS" one. Nonetheless, I'm assuming from your post I can just plug my SD card into my Mac and rename the bootmii folder? That will work?

Also, I cannot download additional songs for the Beatles Rock Band game I purchased until I upgrade the Shop Channel (which is done by performing a system upgrade). If I do the upgrade, I will probably disable most of my mods, is that right? If so, is there an upgrade option that gives me the Shop Channel upgrade and doesn't harm the rest of my settings? (Thought I saw an option for this on the Homebrew Channel).

    Thanks again.

Here's the guide to update just the shopping channel
renaming the bootmii folder will cause the bootmii screen to not automatically show up on startup. By what you said, it sounds like you have it installed as boot2
NEVER update through N as that'll make your life more difficult

There is a wii shop update guide by krank that will take care of that problem. Yes, just rename the bootmii folder.
