Formatted Wii - now gets stuck on Preloader

    Hi, and thanx for reading.

My sisters Wii had a softmod installed which she now wants removed. A friend deleted a few things, not sure what, but i think the things like home brew channel ect, but as this didnt work - he tried to format the Wii

.....it has now been passed to me to fix :S

Just to explain, I am good with computers and have had experience modding in the past but have NO experience with the Wii other than playing them.

I have spent DAYS reading thru forums but none of the wizer so if you can help it would be greatly appreciated!

    Summery;

    • The Wii boots straight to a 'Preloader' screen
    • The wii controllers dont work, but i have a game cube controller
    • Most options on the Preloader screen results in a 'misssing file' or 'error'
    • My aim is to permanently virginise the Wii

Please talk to me like a complete noob, the previous threads i have read left me with a headache lol

    Thanx in advance

    UPDATE:

With the help of the guys listed below and the writters of the guides suggested, i managed to get my sisters wii sorted and my own wii soft modded as a complete novice

    jax

A massive thanx to all you guys for your help!!!!!!

    there's a Guide on this
if you don't the the hbc to return to, after you install the system menu, you can reinstall it through bannerbomb v1

usually, the only reason why you would want to virginize the wii was so it could be sent to N, but yours sounds like it's working fine...

this sounds like a semi-brick to me, don't you think the bricked section would've been a better place to post this?

Great, thanx for that guide! dont know how i missed it in my searches.

The reason for virginising is due to a new game she bought that wont work until an update is completed, she also wants to be able to go on-line with the Wii, she doesnt want to risk a full bricking as a result.

Perhaps a mod chip would be a better option....are they totally undetectable?

All of those can be addressed through guides on this site, no need to virginize the wii.

Yh, i am tempted to leave it soft modded, but the worry is that so many young children use the Wii, one of them may press ok to an update.

would a hard mod solve this worry....or is it still a risk?

Sorry for being a noob, but will priiloader stop the updates and going on-line from being a problem, or will it just make a bricking repairable?

Priiloader Stops Online / Disc updates. You should have no problem going online, And it helps with some bricks .(Not All)
    Kudos.

Example:If a Child goes to update while priiloader is installed And updates are turned on (Blocked),It will Error out ,Instead of updating your system.
