    Best firmware to softmod Wii?

Hey guys, I ran a search for the best firmware to softmod a wii and nothing came up hence this thread.

Which is currently the best firmware to softmod a wii on? I'm currently on 3.1, should I upgrade or leave as is? I'm asking cos I hear upgrading to 4.2 has some ill effects or something : \ Thanks people.

Follow mauifrog's Softmod ANY wii guide, and do the optional downgrade (upgrade in your case) to 4.1. That was the last System Menu that offered any benefits. 4.2 and 4.3 were just homebrew killers.

4.1 is the recommended version here. I personally don't think it really matters what version your wii thinks that it is on. After you have it soft modded it all seems to be the same.

There are a few bugfixes and SD channel support. For more details, check this out:

That's a great read, thank you! I guess my chioce of words was not exactly correct. With the tools we have here @ wiihacks we can make any wii do what we need it to do though.

Yeah, and the SD channel support isn't even that great. I was excited when I first read about it, but I realized you still have to have enough memory on your Wii to run it, since it just copies the channel over temporarily, and it's not like I have a ton of channels anyway, since they cost so much. If I want to play an old NES game of mine (LoZ FTW!), then I can just use an emulator instead of buying it again.

My NES never worked very well. I found it at a thrift store in pieces. They were spread all around the store, so I bought them all and put it together. I still don't have the top cover or some of the screws.
