You need to install priiloader so you can block updates. If you searched the forum as you claim you did, then you should know where to find a guide about priiloader.
Awesome sig picture does not work

What system menu are you on? If it is lower than 4.3 (which I am going to assume it is because Indy doesn't have a 4.3 update on it!) you need to follow different instructions. Look at the softmod any wii guide in my signature and follow the directions according to your SM

if it is a virgin, unmodified wii, and you are already on 4.3, and intending to hack it using the disc, then that is one of the very few times that you DO want to accept the update, you have no other choice, you obviously have an outdated IOS that the game wants to update, as you are already on 4.3, you cant make the modding any harder. So take the update, then follow the softmod guide.

That's strange, but like davepm said you are safe to accept the update.

not really A disc asking for an update is not always trying to update the system menu version, it also looks to see if you have any old IOS that it needs updating. So the OP may have a brand new wii with 4.3, but the disc may contain a newer IOS XX than is already installed, so it will still prompt for an update even if the actual System Menu it contains is older than the installed one. (this is the normal cause of black screens when disc loading)
