    Disc error....is it the cable?

My wii is suddenly unable to read either original discs or backup discs. I have tried most things on this forum uncluding

    1) Cleaning the laser
    2) replacing the laser
    3) replacing the DVD drive

I've removed my wiikey in case this was the problem

So the WII operates and lets me insert the disc but nothing will load. I get a thrashing sound and then disc error.

I was wondering if it could be the cable from the wii to the DVD. How can I check this?

    thanks

    Nev

Could be the cable from the drive, just removing and refitting should be enough.

failing that, the drive has had it.

User claims to have already swapped out drives to no effect.

    I missed that part

It will be the cable or the fitting of the cable.... No end of times I've put a Wii back together for the drive to not work correctly.

Remove the ribbon cable from both ends (unfortunately this means taking the Wii completely apart) and just turn the cable around and refit.

Browsing this forum at work with people asking me things is most likely the cause.

You might want to post in that thread for the answer to your question. I would ASSUME that if its a plug, it can be removed. But I have never even opened up my wii, so I really have no clue.
